The weight story shows both the potential problems and the strengths of a large project such as the Swallow project. It was observed that the Swallows (both sexes) in one area, Twente, weighed about 1.5 g less than those in other areas. However, in all other measurements and in all breeding parameters, there were no differences.

The interesting
feature is that
the weight
increase
throughout the
day seems to be
very linear.
These figures
also illustrate
the greater
variance in
female
weights.
In none of the
data sets did we
find a significant
quadratic
component.
